About the Art & Photography Exhibition

The Burnett Heads Art & Photography Exhibition has developed a reputation for being well organised and easy for artists and photographers to display their work – and for the audience to enjoy it. The exhibition has been extremely popular in Burnett Heads with over 160 pieces of Art in the last show. 

IMPORTANT DATES

Entry Forms and entry fees must be received by 5pm on Friday 11 October 2024.

Artwork to be delivered to Burnett Heads Community Hall Zunker Street Burnett Heads between 1pm and 6pm Friday 18 October & 9am and 12 noon Saturday 19 October 2024.

Artwork to be collected between 6pm and 7pm Saturday 26 October or 9 and 12 noon Sunday 27 October 2024.

Terms & Conditions / Information For Entrants
Conditions of Entry
  1. No commission fees are changed on sales.
  2. Entries from all sections are eligible for the Overall Best in Show Award. The winner of the Overall Best in Show Award will be ineligible to win another section.
  3. All entries must be the unaided original work of the entrant or entrants if artwork is submitted as a collaboration.
  4. All work must have been completed in the 2 years prior to the closing date. No works to have won a first prize in any major art prize.
  5. Artists may enter a maximum of two pieces of work in each category with the exception of the Photography sections 7 to 11. Sections 7 to 11 may enter a maximum of three pieces of work per section.
  6. An artwork may only be entered in one section.
  7. The size of each exhibit must not exceed a maximum of 100 cm high X 100cm wide including frame. Creative Textile entries must have a total perimeter no larger than 3 metres. Section 4 (Small works) maximum size is 30cm x 40cm including frame, no minimum size.
  8. All entries must have Section number, artists name, address, phone number and title of work as well as sale price (or not for sale notification) affixed on back.
  9. The responsibility rests with the exhibitor to ensure that the EXHIBITS MUST BE ABLE TO BE HUNG SAFELY. Cord or wire must be strong enough to hold the weight of the artwork – therefore “D” hooks are essential. Stewards reserve the right to reject exhibits considered unsafe. Stewards also have the right to reject or remove works considered unsuitable.
  10. Entries are accepted on an “all care but no responsibility” basis. Entrants are responsible for their own insurance.
  11. Entries not collected will become the property of BHPSA and may be sold after 1 month.
  12. Judging will be a done by an expert panel prior to the Opening Night.  Judges may choose not to award a prize in any section where insufficient numbers or quality of entries are received. Judges may award Highly Commended Awards at their discretion. Judges’ decision is final, no correspondence will be entered into.
  13. The Committee reserves the right to reject any entry without explanation.
  14. Entrants will allow their work to be photographed without fee for media purposes.
  15. Any artist wishing to offer their artwork for sale on the day of the Art Show, must be responsible to clearly mark their work with price on entry form so it can be added to the tag. Artists wishing to sell their work may conduct their own sale directly with interested buyers, or allow Burnett Heads Progress Sports Association (BHPSA) to sell the Artwork on their behalf.
  16. Any artwork sold by BHPSA may incur bank or online processing fees. These fees will be deducted from the sale of the art work.

Overall Best In Exhibition : $500
Peoples Choice Award : $100

PAINTING
1. $300 – OPEN: 2024 Theme – River/Land/Sea – Any medium
2. $300 – OPEN: Works on Paper – Watercolour, Pastel, Drawing etc
3. $300 – OPEN: Easel Works – Oil, acrylic, mixed media, collage or other medium on a non-paper based support e.g canvas or board.
4. $250 – OPEN: Small painting (Maximum 30cm x 40cm including frame) – Any medium
5. $100 – YOUTH: 13-17 Years – Any medium
6. $50 – YOUTH: Up to 12 years – Any medium 

PHOTOGRAPHY & DIGITAL MEDIA (including DIGITAL COLLAGE & DIGITAL DRAWINGS)
7. $250 – OPEN: Photography – Colour – Any subject 
8. $250 – OPEN: Photography – Black and White – Any subject 
9. $200 – OPEN: Digital Collage/Drawings etc – Any subject 
10. $100 – YOUTH: 13 -17 years – Colour, black and white or digital 
11. $50 – YOUTH: To 12 years – Colour, black and white or digital 

TEXTILES / FIBRE
12. $250 – OPEN: Fabric, fibre etc (example small quilt, macramé, stitching, dyeing, basketry) Maximum dimensions – total perimeter no larger than 3 metres

3D WORKS
13. $250 – OPEN: Ceramic/Pottery/Sculpture/Woodwork

 

Entry Fees

Adult: $10.00 per Art Work
Junior: $5.00 per Art Work

 

Opening Night Drinks & Canapes

Held on Thursday the 24th of October, this event provides the Artists the chance to interact with invited guests and potential buyers before we announce the winning pieces of Art for each Category.

Judging and Awards

Judging will be a done by an expert panel prior to the Opening Night.
